As Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart finally managed to spend some time together, their reunion was far from plain sailing as they were forced to seek refuge at a police station.

The Twilight couple were spotted on their way home from LAX airport and photographers are said to have followed their car, weaving in and out of traffic to grab a shot of the young actors together.

According to TMZ, Rob and Kris were so concerned for their safety, they were forced to make a detour to a local police station to hide them from paparazzi.

Police later sneaked them out of the building and on to a back road where they had less chance of being spotted by the snappers.

It’s the second time this month R-Pattz has had a run-in with photo-hungry paps.

According to Look magazine, the British actor was close to tears as he begged them to stop following him when he left a friend’s party earlier this month.

He said: “I hate this. I’m going to find a way to make it all stop.”

Kristen has also previously discussed her dislike of the intense interest in her private life.

According to Ok! Magazine UK, K-Stew complained: "It’s so weird, that you have to be worried about people seeing things.

“You want to be excited about something, normal people can be excited about their lives, and I am, too, but it’s such a different thing.

"It comes out as entertainment for other people and that makes me want to throw up.”
