Taylor Lautner donates RV lawsuit money to charity
Taylor Lautner has won his lawsuit against an RV company, according to multiple tabloid reports. The ‘Twilight’ hunk has won $40,000 in a settlement with the company, which he will donate to children's charity, the reports say.
The 18-year-old actor filed a breach of contract suit on Aug. 23 against McMahon's RV after the California company failed to deliver the $300,000 trailer he was supposed to use as a dressing room during the filming of his latest film, 'Abduction.'
Lautner wins lawsuit
According to Us magazine, the actor has won his lawsuit against McMahon’s RV.
In a settlement announced late Friday, the leading “wolf” in 'Twilight' Saga will be awarded $40,000 by MCMahon's RV trailer hire firm, since they failed to deliver the 2006 Affinity Country Coach by the requested date of June 21.
Lautner won a hefty amount in the settlement but has decided not to pocket the cash.
‘The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl’ star will instead give the money to the Lollipop Theatre Network, a charity for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses, according to Us.
The non-profit organization is dedicated to bringing films that are currently in theaters to people confined in hospitals from illnesses.
"McMahon's RV has agreed to settle its dispute with Taylor Lautner. McMahon's RV will pay $40,000 to Lautner, which the 18-year-old actor will donate to The Lollipop Theater Network, a children's charity with which he has a long-standing relationship," Lautner's attorney Robert Barta told the magazine Friday.
Unusual twist in the lawsuit
In his breach of contract and fraud lawsuit against the company, Lautner had sought damages for the "emotional distress" he suffered by the Orange County RV dealership’s inaction.
Dealership owner Brent McMahon initially wanted to solve the dispute out of court, by challenging the actor who is 30 years his junior to compete in a push-up contest.
But the actor’s lawyer Robert M. Barta declined to accept the offer and in an email statement said, “McMahon’s RV’s response to our client’s legitimate claim further demonstrates the lack of professionalism that Mr. McMahon, his company and his employees have exhibited from the outset, and that compelled the filing of this lawsuit in the first place.
“While we will not dignify Mr. McMahon’s facetious suggestion of a contest to settle a legal claim with a response, we do welcome the opportunity for him to resolve this matter by making a $40,000 donation to the charity of Mr. Lautner’s choice, and we will be in touch with his counsel to see if he will make good on this offer.”

Reportedly, Lautner cited "emotional distress" in seeking damages from the dealership, but a Us Weekly source claims that’s not the case. According to the source, a diva meltdown never happened, and actor's emotions weren't the point of the lawsuit.
According to the magazine’s source, “This was never a suit about money. It was to hold someone accountable. Taylor never ordered a customized RV -- it was a used RV which needed simple safety-related repairs. There was never any diva behavior. 'Emotional distress' is an automatic checked box on a fraudulent claim.”
